Pricing & comparisons disclaimer
Last updated: 20 June 2026
All costs are estimates
Every price shown on Travel Crew — itinerary costs, day-by-day breakdowns, Copycat Tool results, and savings figures — is an approximate estimate based on typical backpacker-rate accommodation, transport, food, and activity costs at the time it was generated. They are not quotes, not guarantees, and not bookings. Real costs vary by season, exchange rate, availability, and individual choices. You should independently verify accommodation, transport, and activity prices before relying on any figure shown here to plan or budget a trip.
How we compare to commercial operator prices
Where we show a commercial operator's name and price alongside a self-guided estimate (including in Tour Buster and on itinerary/departure pages), the operator's price is taken from their own publicly advertised pricing at the time of writing and is subject to change without notice. The comparison is not a comparison of identical products. A self-guided trip typically does not include a group leader, included meals, organised transfers, 24/7 in-destination support, or the operator's insurance and safety arrangements — all of which are part of what a commercial operator's price covers. We show these comparisons to illustrate the cost difference between guided and self-guided travel, not to claim the two are equivalent experiences.
No affiliation or endorsement
Travel Crew is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any tour operator named on this site unless we explicitly say otherwise. Operator and brand names are used only to identify and describe their own publicly available tours.
Operator directory & commissions
Some links to operators in our directory may be commercial/affiliate relationships, meaning Travel Crew may receive a referral commission from the operator if you book after clicking through — at no extra cost to you. This does not affect the price you pay the operator. We'll clearly label any such relationship where one exists.
Seat fees & what they pay for
Joining any departure requires paying a seat fee (10% of the trip leader's stated budget, minimum £50/€50/$50). This is separate from any membership fee, and separate from the cost of the trip itself. The seat fee is not payment for a tour— it pays for a Travel Crew platform service: verified group access and unlocked messaging with the departure's other confirmed members. That service is delivered as soon as your payment is confirmed, regardless of whether the trip itself ultimately runs. The fee is split between the trip leader, as their commission for organising the group, and Travel Crew — 30/70 on standard departures, 50/50 on departures hosted by an approved Travel Crew Partner.
If a departure doesn't run
If a departure doesn't reach its minimum group size and closes without running, you will not receive a cash refund of your seat fee. Instead, you'll receive platform credit equal to the amount you paid, redeemable toward the seat fee on any future departure. This reflects that Travel Crew's service — verified group access and messaging with the people who had committed to that departure — was delivered at the time of payment, independent of whether the trip happened.
User-generated itineraries
Itineraries published by members are independently created by that member (or, for Tour Buster results, independently generated based on a member-submitted description) and are not verified by Travel Crew for accuracy, safety, or up-to-date pricing. Use your own judgement and do your own research before following any published itinerary.
